AI-driven robotic disassembly for flat panel displays.
Higher-value clean commodities like aluminum, copper, steel, and printed circuit boards.
Recovery of critical and rare earth elements such as indium and gallium.
Sustainable plastics recovery from difficult black polymers.Who We Are

roboLoop Is a Pennsylvania-Based Technology Company
We are a spinoff of eLoop LLC, a certified leader in IT asset disposition, and the Carnegie Mellon Robotics Institute, one of the world’s foremost robotics research institutions.
Our State College, PA facility serves as a regional hub for flat panel display recycling — applying robotics, AI, and precision engineering to solve one of the toughest recycling challenges in the world.
Our Mission:
To revolutionize electronics recycling by replacing manual dismantling and shredding with safe, scalable, and sustainable robotic systems.
Technology
Our Proprietary Robotic
Recycling Process
At the heart of roboLoop’s flat panel display project is a proprietary AI-driven robotic system built specifically for flat panel display disassembly. Unlike traditional shredding, which produces contaminated and lower-value scrap, our robotics remove fasteners, identify components, and separate materials into clean streams.
Key technology benefits

Innovative
Robotics
Precision dismantling with AI vision systems to identify and sort components.

Cleaner Commodities
Separation of uncontaminated aluminum, steel, copper wire, printed circuit boards, and plastics, resulting in higher resale value.

Critical Material Recovery
Extraction of critical and rare earth elements such as indium and gallium from thin-film transistors.

Plastics Reclamation
Specialized analysis of plastics, identifying polymer types to create a resalable plastics stream.

Sustainability Impact
Recycling of over 95% of materials in each display, contributing directly to the circular economy.
Why Flat Panel Displays?

The FPD Challenge
Flat panel displays represent one of the largest and fastest-growing segments of global e-waste. With a lifespan of only 5–7 years, most are quickly discarded, and unlike other electronics, there is no viable aftermarket repair market.
Key facts:
- It is estimated there are more flat panel displays in the average U.S. household than people.
- FPDs contain a variety of valuable and recyclable materials, including metals, plastics, and rare elements.
- Manual disassembly is slow, labor-intensive, and hazardous due to the CCFL lamps and chemicals present.
- Shredding methods contaminate materials , significantly reducing resale value.
roboLoop’s mission is to solve the FPD challenge by creating a regional processing hub in State College, PA, where certified recyclers across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic can send collected displays for safe and efficient recycling.
